Welcome!
I am Angelina, a teacher on a quest for more insight, knowledge, and community in the world of education. I am offering you highlights of me as a person, a teacher, and a student through various mediums. I provide a few of my students' projects and some projects I have completed through the University of Colorado Denver's eLearning Design and Technology program. My students are familiarizing themselves with how to transform their learning from a traditional brick and mortar method to a project-based learning method, all while I am learning how to create more opportunities for them to feel more engaged, creative, successful, and empowered using this method. My most recent degree allows me to improve a plethora of aspects of learning experience design for a diverse group of students. I hope you will join me in this experience that is educating the young minds of this world. |
Angelina Valvona-Herndon
I am an energetic, innovative, and driven high school English teacher with over 10 years of experience and a special love for working with at-risk kiddos. I am extremely motivated to be a master teacher in various areas of my field and a teacher leader. I recently completed my Master of Arts, Learning Design and Technology degree through the University of Colorado Denver, following the eLearning path. I have experience in mentoring new and seasoned teachers, writing grants to improve the authenticity, relevance, and engagement of students’ curriculum, and am working on excelling in the creation of various interdisciplinary project-based learning experiences for students. Over my past few years of teaching, I have also had the opportunity to lead an online program for high school students with a variety of skill levels, creating and facilitating 10th through 12th grade language arts courses.

My Mission as an English Language Arts Teacher

My Mission as a Teacher Leader
|
Help students understand the value of reading diverse texts by various authors with different perspectives, learning to write for different purposes, and having the ability to express themselves through their own voice. I will guide students through the process of comprehending and analyzing what is going on around them and throughout the world, and help them find empowerment to go out into their world and make a beneficial change.
|
Help encourage trusting and collaborative relationships, and an innovative environment among educators to allow for stimulating conversation, learning, and practice surrounding diverse teaching methods and the inclusion of EdTech so as to enhance student learning and engagement.

"Mrs. Valvona has helped me so much this year, and she is the only reason I found motivation to be able to finish her class and some of my others. I would have never been able to get it done if it weren't for her responding fast and being willing to help me and work through assignments with me. She understands it's hard with me working full time, so we came up with a plan for that and any other problems that arose."

"Students are treated with respect and dignity, and they have access to an instructor who truly believes every student has promise and potential."
